Best of British
With the Royal Wedding ever closer, The King's Speech scooping a mantelpiece full of BAFTAs and Oscars, and a triumphantly-British London Fashion Week, MASK are looking forward to a Spring in Red, White and Blue…..
Inspired by this burst of nostalgia, MASK have been plotting a number of super-British parties in our new portfolio of City-based pubs….all resplendent in the traditional touches you'd expect (wood panelling, suits of armour, spectacular chandeliers and grand bars) and with the welcome addition of hearty home-cooked food and cask ales to boot.
We have even gone the extra mile and added cockney entertainment in the form of pearly Kings and Queens, push a penny and bar skittles, as well as Victorian styling and décor to add to the effect. We've treated guests to steak and oyster stew, old-school seafood bars (although thought it best to steer clear of jellied eels and whelks!) and scampi in newspaper cones. A few have even joined in the odd tune with our Old Music Hall pianist.
But it's really outdoors we can't wait to be…..with the Royal Wedding looming we can't wait to break out the bunting (we jest of course, it never got put away) and the trestle tables for a wonderful street party in its honour.
And outdoors we shall be when The Goring opens its very British beach in their wonderfully hidden garden soon….we can't wait to see their carefully chosen golden sands and magical tree house designs, not to mention their very special new suite which is rumoured to have been booked by Kate Middleton ahead of the Royal Wedding.
So here's to all things British and a Spring of nostalgia!
