'a national institution' with a bright future
The future for Christmas parties is bright, and a the credit crunch has actually helped prevent the stability of the market after prices began to get "out of hand" according to speakers at The Guide Live.
Clare Pasquil, Mask, Tim Stevens, Best Parties Ever and Simon Mitchell, Impulse Events, told the Ministry of Sound audience that Christmas is still an important time to thank staff.
"Christmas parties are a national institution, It's not about fat cats, but about the back of the house staff who often don't receive the perks that others do," said Pasquil.
"Sometimes businesses get stuck doing the same thing. Making budgets smaller can force smaller, but still popular, events."
Best Parties' Stevens commented: "There will be more departmentalisation in the market. Big, lavish events will be broken into smaller events. Companies are keen to stay under the radar, with less attention on their bigger events."
Impulses' Mitchell added that the credit crunch has had some benefits: "Correction was needed in the market before prices got out of hand," he said.
