Everything is Beautiful at The Ballet

Much to our delight at MASK, our girlyness has been sated by a trend oh so delicate and elegant….we have indulged in the stunning Black Swan at cinemas (and applauded Natalie Portman's well-deserved Oscar win)….gone mad for ballet-inspired fitness trends….and treated our wardrobes to wrap-around knits and layered hues. And so with this season's quota of pinks, we are celebrating Spring at the Ballet…..

This week, the Maskettes were fortunate enough to be invited for a very special tour of the Royal Opera House and Royal Ballet Studios. Unlike the other venue show arounds we have experienced, not only were we treated to viewings of their fabulous event spaces followed by tea, cake and chats….but we were invited to something altogether more unusual! The lovely Sara and Dean accompanied us to one of the venue's larger studios (where we are also told we could host an evening drinks reception) where we were delighted to watch an exclusive open Ballet Class, in which the Royal Ballet Company warmed up ahead of their day's rehearsals and the matinee performance of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The experience was utterly inspiring and left us pirouetting out of the building and desperate to get back into our ballet shoes, terribly excited to plan an event in such a wonderful and magical place!

Stirred by our adventure, and wandering into Covent Garden (full of this season's ballet inspired fashion trends) we began to muse over our upcoming events and to hatch plans for fantastical parties in the spectacular Paul Hamlyn Hall…..we dreamed of creating our own ballet scene with a huge glowing full moon, an enormous and dramatic water feature, and filling the edges of the room with dozens of silver birch trees all lit with hundreds of hanging tea lights…..there would be themed canapés brought to guests by staff dressed in feathered tutus, as Princes and as enchanted toys…… guests arrive with feather-adorned invites issued to them by the Columbine Doll…..

And so, feet back down on the ground and to the real world…..or rather to plan something as splendid as we imagined that day…..
